Give Hackers a Challenge!

Your password is the key to all of your important data, so it is imperative that you choose it wisely. You must choose something complex in order to challenge hackers. Nick Berry, President of Data Genetics, states that 1 in 10 of every four-digit password code is “1234”. Other passwords to avoid are important dates like birthdays and anniversaries, whole words, and telling the truth. When it comes to responding to the questions that are used to reset or remember your password, tell lies. You never know, the people closest to you can be your next hacker.

Essential Techniques of Frontend Development

When doing frontend development, the tasks must be completed in three (3) categories: layout, style, and functionality. The layout will consist of the amount of divs (sections) that are needed and the sizes of them, in order to provide structure. Stylizing the page is the creative aspect of development. It allows you to add images and videos, filters, and adjust the opacity and different gradients of the site. Functionality is the most important technique because if the site is not user-friendly or understandable, it will remain ineffective and abandoned.

How Corporate Businesses should Protect themselves from BYOD (Bring Your Own Device)

Many corporate companies are Pro BYOD. International Code Design accessed how companies should protect themselves when considering BYOD. First the company must have in place a policy, which protects all corporate information on the device, and makes sure that corporate informations stays completely separate from personal information. There should also be official terms and agreements that employees, who are interested in BYOD, must accept. Next, it must be understood that all corporate information is owned by that company, and not the owner of the device. Lastly, be sure that it is understood that the company is not responsible for replacing or repairing any lost information or broken devices, even if it is due to an overload of information. BYOD is risky, but there are ways for companies to protect themselves.

Did You Know that Facebook Requires Your Real Name?

Many of us are used “creating” a user name to represent us or describe our business, but did you know that FaceBook requires all users to use their real name, and that creating a fictitious name can be justification to be removed from the site?!

This may seem like challenge, especially if you’re responsible for more than one company.  But, understanding the difference between an account and a page on Facebook will help enhance your social media experience and maximize your opportunities to communicate with customers and prospective customers.

The most important thing to remember with FaceBook is that it is a social media site first intended to connect people, therefore, a personal account is required.  Regardless of the internet provider, you will sign up with FaceBook using FIRST and LAST name, then link to your personal email account. For businesses new to FaceBook this may seem a little daunting at first, however, know that FaceBook does a great job of keeping your personal account information separate from any Business or Organizational pages you create (Becoming a Page Administrator).

So, back to the difference between an account and a page.  Each person is permitted to have only one Facebook account (remember using your real name and a real email address).  From a personal account, a Page can be created for a business or organization. Only businesses, institutions, organizations etc. can have a Page, and each Page is connected an account.  Interesting to note that multiple persons can be a Page Administrator for one entity’s page. Again, each administrator is a real person who has a real email account.

These distinctions are important because you do not want to risk loosing access.  As a business or organization seeking to connect with existing and prospective customers, it is important to be reasonably transparent.  Using a variety of names can become confusing overtime, and will ultimately catch up with you—Facebook has sophisticated web developers.

So, create a Facebook account, and add one or business pages to your personal Facebook account to promote your business.  It is easy to keep the two separate and will make your social media experience enjoyable as you connect with your customers and prospective customers.

Tips to Help Your Company Get Started with Social Media

The world seems to move fast, and you weren’t certain whether ‘social media’ would really be needed to market your business and connect with your customers…but here we are.  It’s Important!

I’ve devised a checklist for you to help you GET STARTED.  For some this checklist may seem rather basic, for others questions are swirling around in your head about where to start and how to keep it going.  The goal is to be able to answer YES to each of the questions below.  If you have/can, then you are well on your way to incorporating social media into your marketing mix.

Social Media Check list:

Have you created a Facebook personal account?

Does your organization have a Facebook page?

Are you a designated administrator for your organization’s Facebook page?

Have you created your “About” page on Facebook?

Have you linked your organization’s website to social media accounts like Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube?

Have you uploaded images that reflect your organization’s work and company culture?

Have you emailed your customers and others within your target audience about your Facebook or Twitter pages?

Have you created an Organizational Twitter account?

For Twitter, do you understand #@ and truncated url’s?

Have you created a personalized look and feel that represents your organization on your social media accounts, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube?

The goal is to get started, review this checklist, and answer YES to each question.

Once you connect to Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube you will discover that the sites are rather self explanatory and pretty intuitive.  Posting is easy, and you can instantly connect with literally hundreds of people!  So go ahead, and get started, you won’t regret it.

Understanding and Acknowledging ‘Section 508’

We live in a world of technology that grows in leaps and bounds; information is constantly distributed throughout various forms of the media. Sometimes, we fail to notice significant pieces of information; or, we simply take technology for granted. That is where we, at International Code Design Inc., come into the picture. Our services bring a distinct connection between different media platforms and communication.

International Code Design Inc. helps businesses and government agencies implement and comply with the regulations of Section 508 of the ‘Rehabilitation Act’. The ‘Rehabilitation Act’ was recognized and passed as a federal law in 1973. This law enforces and prohibits discrimination towards disability in programs operated by federal agencies. It is important that each and every individual have the right to equal access to information and through multiple modes of communication in our society. In 1998, Congress amended the ‘Rehabilitation Act of 1973’ into a specific section with a focus on equivalent access for all, including individuals with disabilities, for electronic and information technology conducted by Federal agencies.

The purpose of Section 508 is to ensure that there is communications access to the various areas of technology. We all want to be able to understand information as it is presented to us, with undiluted access. As mentioned, with the fast-growing world of technology we live in today, there are certain things each individual wouldn’t want to miss out on. This is where Section 508 comes into the picture - it acts on eliminating barriers in electronic and information technology in order to be accessible to all of the public. For a clearer understanding on how Section 508 functions, if a certain organization decides on using a sort of multimedia (for example, a video) for communication, it has to be determined whether it is necessary for a transcript or captions to be added.

In keeping with International Code Design Inc.’s mission, we are also committed to making communication accessible to all of the public, including individuals with disabilities. With our credible knowledge of technology and networking, we specialize in technology consulting and solution services for government, industry, and non-profit organizations. We understand the impact of the Section 508 law and its influence on technology; we help companies implement the law and regulations. International Code Design Inc. supports the opportunity of equal access to technology and communication.
